Grasses for the Garden

Relaxing in the backyard can be especially meditative when watching the breezes rustle through your garden. Grasses and sedges are wonderful plants to accentuate the movement and flow of the wind.
Grasses may highlight the wind, but the wind plays an important role in their pollination.

There are many reasons to use this family of plants in the garden. Frances Clark is an instructor at the New England Wildflower Society and because of their special qualities; Frances uses a variety of grasses in landscaping.

Grasses are ecologically vital to our environment; they provide nourishment, shelter, raw material for many products and require very little maintenance. The array of color, texture, and size provide an abundant palette for garden design.
